Kumasi rapper sets record "raps for 1 hour non-stop on live radio"

The Party Mix Show is one of the popular radio shows in Kumasi that often features underground artists in the city, grants them exclusive interviews for them to showcase their talents and advertise their songs to the public. DJ Simms is the host of this show and many big artists from the city have passed through the show.

Last sunday, one of the talented upcoming cats from the MIC BURNERS camp made history as the only Ghanaian rapper to rap for 1 hour non stop on a live radio show. AMERADO is a label mate of STRONGMAN BURNER, he has that unique and hardcore style in his rap. He is always trusted to deliver. We think this guy is one of the treasure chests of the city.

Check out Amerado's 1 hour non stop rap and one of his recent songs from the links below

If Kumasi Will Rise Again by ICE BOX

Kumasi has produced a lot of great rappers since the beginning of Hip-Life;
the likes of Reggie Rockstone (Originator of Hip-Life), Lord Kenya, Okyeame
Kwame, Flowking Stone, etc. That is if I’m to talk about Kumasi rappers who
have been rapping for more than a decade. I would say most of them had a
great run but what they failed to do was sow a seed. They are Legends
alright but they didn’t create a Legacy. Most didn’t have protégés; they
did not train the young ones who looked up to them. I quite remember one of
my artist friends told me about how one of Kumasi’s own mainstreams
verbally abused him when he proposed an idea that would help boost his
emerging career. The verbal abuse wasn’t necessary if you ask me, but it
happened and the reason behind it only he knows.

A Kumasi disc jockey will gladly download an outside Kumasi mainstream’s
song and happily play it on air without any fee. A young Kumasi artist will
go to the same disc jockey’s office to give him a song to play and Mr. Dj
would be like, “Pay this fee and I would play your song”. A mainstream
artist, who sells albums, performs at gigs at a cost and a young Kumasi
artist who has a dream to be raised by his city. I guess you know what I’m
driving at.

I’ve observed a lot of young artists in the city get arrogant when they
feel like they’ve been accepted by the city. Most decide not to work with
the other artists in the city because they feel bigger than them. Most
artists also feel they don’t need to feature because the featured will
dominate the song with their better verses. It’s funny when you think about
it. If you feel this way then you should learn more and become better
yourself or work with others to improve your skills. The more you work with
other artists, the more you learn. Artists in Kumasi need to collaborate
more to put the city back on its feet.

All the Kumasi artists are working hard to get recognized by the city to
push them beyond. Not saying working solo isn’t good but if there was to be
a Kumasi Music Union, it would be much easier to push the artists to
represent us in the big leagues. Imagine a union full of music artists,
disc jockeys, event organizers, radio/TV stations, etc. Kumasi would climb
back to the charts easily because of all the helping hands.

To all the artists who leave Kumasi to the capital for breakthrough due to
the many opportunities out there, I don’t blame you. It’s good to move
around to get your music out there but you should know where you are coming
from and rep it to the fullest. If the city becomes great again, it would
be beneficial to everyone including you. Don’t forget the city you were
raised in.
Kumasi Music has fallen to the cracks but if we will rise again, we need to
change our approach and work hard to improve. Kumasi Music will rise
again!!!

Yours faithful,
Ice Box (Rapper-Writer)

SHATTA WALE endorses Kumasi Dancehall General

If you can remember we did a story on one of Kumasi's Dancehall talents "Bigg Bone" that Shatta Wale should really watch out for him and even work with him if possible because "Bigg Bone" guy is on fire just like he Shatta is. Well two months after we see Shatta putting the Kumasi Dancehall General "BIGG BONE" on his SHATTA WALE FOR PEACE CONCERT this saturday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. This is a great move. Make sure you are there to see him kill it this saturday.

Well we see a new Family Member of the SM FAMILY. Big ups Bigg Bone on this great gig and we pray the Dancehall King will see what the whole Kumasi have seen in you for years. vim

Upcoming Kumasi rapper gets verified on Facebook

Social media verification is one thing for artistes all around the world. That blue mark by your name on either facebook or twitter as an artiste is one big thing and a great sign of corroboration. It shows that your work or brand has been validated and certified. In Ghana there are only few artistes verified on facebook; SAMINI, SHATTA WALE, SARKODIE, STONEBWOY, M.ANIFEST, BISA K DEI, OKYEAME KWAME and now ASUMADU!

Earlier today we were wandering on facebook minding our own business as you already know and then we came across the official facebook account of Kumasi rapper cum disc jockey "Asumadu" of ASUMA 10 RECORDS who was then known as "Young So". That blue verification sign on his page actually gave us the chills. We were like wow finally. This guy has been working so hard and has been on almost every show in Kumasi and its outskirts.

Facebook verification is something even most of the mainstream or so called popular artistes in Ghana do not even have and they fervently pray for. We actually see this as a big move and it should motivate Asumadu to keep his brand going. Keep on your hard work brother. Vim!

TOP 10 Kumasi's most influencial upcoming artistes

Before you read this remember it took our team months of listening intensively to Kumasi music only from social media sites and this list is purely what we think. Siano Streets took unto ourselves to do extensive research on the most mentioned names or to come clearer the popular names in the Kumasi music scene in these recent weeks. To make it even clearer and easy to understand, we compiled the list of potential influential Kumasi artists. We didn't only resort to radio plays or bloggers posts since both can be very biased and these parties do not genuinely champion the course of getting underground acts in Kumasi heard. I mean you hardly hear an underground's work on the radio.

The following is the compiled list (TOP 10) in the descending order. Please note that this purely the views of Siano Streets. If you disagree with us you can construct your list in the comment section before you make silly comments or even insult us. Thanks.
